feedM.E. is a global awareness, education and action initiative designed to heighten awareness of adult malnutrition and the importance of nutrition in patient care. The initiative helps to educate hospital staff and patients about nutrition’s important role in recovery from illness and injury. Abbott supports this initiative through nutrition leadership, research and resources.
The Alliance to Advance Patient Nutrition is coalition dedicated to championing effective patient nutrition practices. Launched in 2013, the Alliance is comprised of leaders from The Academy of Medical-Surgical Nurses, The Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics, The Society of Hospital Medicine, and Abbott. The alliance’s mission is to transform patient care through the power of prescriptive nutrition. It is focused on raising awareness about the positive impact proper nutrition has on patients’ medical outcomes and providing hospitals with tools and resources to implement effective nutrition practices.
International Sarcopenia Initiative (ISI)
The International Sarcopenia Initiative (ISI), an initiative of the European Union Geriatric Medicine Society (EUGMS) and supported by Abbott, is a multidisciplinary global committee with representatives from leading medical, nutrition, aging and research associations across the world, including the International Association of Gerontology and Geriatrics, Jean Mayer USDA Human Nutrition Research Center on Aging, and the European Academy for Medicine of Ageing.
The DynaHEALTH consortium, made up of 13 partners, including Abbott, is a multi-disciplinary research project. The consortium will develop evidence-based policy recommendations for healthy and active ageing through reducing the risks of obesity and type 2 diabetes. By studying the interplay between glucose metabolism, psychological wellbeing and social factors, the project will develop new technologies and clinical interventions for targeted disease prevention.
