Scott Goates, Ph.D., M.S., is a health economist in Abbott’s nutrition division. His work involves the design and execution of clinical and observational studies on the health and economic value of nutrition.
Prior to joining Abbott, Scott worked as a health economist in the Office of the associate director for Policy at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). At the CDC, Scott conducted research and advised senior leadership on a wide variety of high priority public health issues including teen pregnancy, tobacco use and taxation, alcohol abuse, healthcare associated infections and reimbursement policies. Scott has published in The American Journal of Public Health, Health Affairs, Preventing Chronic Disease, American Journal of Preventive Medicine and Applied Economics.
Scott holds a Ph.D. in Economics and a Master in Statistics from Washington State University.
